Liquity — Weekly Wrap Up #8

June 7, 2021

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap Up, a weekly series where I go over all of the highlights in the Liquity ecosystem. This issue covers the week of 5/31–6/6.

What is Liquity? Liquity is a decentralized borrowing protocol that allows you to draw 0% interest loans against Ether used as collateral. Learn more.

System Overview

  • As highlighted last week, the number of Troves continues to climb as more users get comfortable with ETH’s market conditions. In last week’s Weekly Wrap Up, there were ~677 Troves and at time of writing there are just over 800 Troves — an 18.75% increase in borrowers since last week.
  • This trend also matches what we’re seeing in the Maker ecosystem. Though recently, total Troves opened each day has usually been greater than total ETH-denominated Maker Vaults opened each day.
  • The LUSD mint / burn trend is also continuing from last week — meaning much more LUSD is being minted (i.e. borrowed) than is being burned (i.e. paid off, liquidated, or redeemed) each day.
  • LQTY rewards for the LUSD 3Pool ended last week, but liquidity and volume were largely unaffected. This is a good sign for LUSD’s market maturity. CRV rewards will continue for the pool, though a final decision hasn’t been made for additional LQTY rewards.
  • Liquity has 953K ETH locked — $2.7B as of 6/7.

Integrations

  • We are officially a sponsor of ETHGlobal’s upcoming HackMoney event! If you’ve ever wanted to build on top of Liquity and get rewarded for it — now’s your chance. Apply to participate before the June 14 deadline here.
  • There’s no other big integrations news from last week, but we did win the DeFi Saver integration poll on Twitter — so keep an eye out for that in the near future.
